The award-winning (National Endowment for the Arts, Samuel French Short Play Festival) Simon Studio is currently casting for both Shakespeare’s The Merchant of Venice and a series of new play, film, and TV projects-all developing in the studio’s Professional Lab as part of its 30th anniversary season. Merchant will be produced by Jack Cornwell and directed by the studio’s artistic director, Roger Hendricks Simon (Yale Rep, NY Shakespeare Festival, London’s Royal Court) for a late October opening at the Richmond Shepard Theatre. The studio’s new film and play series will be showcased as part of The Simon Studio Cinema & Theatre Festival now in its third year at the Drama Book Shop’s Arthur Seelen Theatre in NYC. Seeking-Actors and Actresses: all ages and ethnicities. Auditions will be held Sept. 3 & Sept. 10, 6-8:30 p.m. at the Drama Book Shop, 250 W. 40th St., NYC and Sept. 6, 1-4 p.m. at Where Eagles Dare, 347 W. 36th St., 13th fl., NYC. No appts. necessary. Come prepared with a classical and/or contemporary monologue and be prepared to read from Merchant and/or a new play. Actors should be prepared to stay the whole session if asked.
