| The Camarillo Community Theatre and director Jeff Wallach are holding auditions for Little Shop of Horrors, on Sunday, August 24 and Monday, August 25. The show opens on October 17 and runs through November 23. Rehearsals will begin immediately after auditions, M-Th, 7:00 pm-10:00 pm, Saturdays, 10:00 am–2:00 am, and Sundays, 6:00 pm–9:00 pm.
Roles: Seymour: 20’s-30’s, baritone-tenor, an insecure, naive, put-upon florist’s clerk hero. Audrey: 20’s-30’s, wide ranged alto, bleached-blonde, Billie-Dawn like, secret love of Seymour’s life. Mr. Mushnik: character actor, 45-60, the boss, a failure of an East Side florist. Orin: versatile actor 20’s-40’s, a tall, dark, handsome dentist with sadistic tendencies. The actor will also play A Voice not unlike God’s, wino #2, customer, radio announcer, Mr. Bernstein, Mrs. Luce, Skip Snip and Patrick Martin. The Plant Audrey II: actor, age and voice open to be the puppeteer for the plant, also plays wino #1. Voice of the Plant: provided by an actor on an offstage microphone. Crystal, Ronnette, Chiffon: singer, dancer, actress to play high school age, must be confident and solid with 3 part harmonies, 3 ethnically diverse female street urchins.
Prepare 2 uptempo songs, if auditioning for a specific role, a song from the show may be used, an accompanist will be provided. You may be asked to stay and read from the script, or to do dance movement, be prepared. Bring a resume and a headshot.
