MD, ‘ALTAR BOYZ’
Bethesda Theatre is casting Altar Boyz. Stafford Arima, dir. Rehearsals begin Sept. 9; runs Oct. 2-Jan. 3, 2009.

Seeking- Matthew: mid-late 20s, attractive, charismatic, group leader, great voice, at ease with the audience, makes girls and boys swoon, pop tenor, beatboxing ability preferred; Mark: early 20s, innocent, sensitive, cheerful, always looked up to Matthew, extremely glad they are friends, strong comedic instinct, high pop tenor; Luke: mid-late 20s, the bad boy, street wise but dim in every other area, gives everything he does 110 percent, speaks in hip-hop lingo, strong comedic instinct, pop baritone; Juan: the “ethnic one,” dropped on the steps of a church in Tijuana and raised by nuns as a Hispanic but may or may not be Latino, strong comedic instinct, Spanish accent required, pop baritone/tenor; Abe: Jewish altar boy, loves singing and dancing, confused about why God told him to join a Christian boy band but faithfully gives it his all, fully retains his faith, loves the guys and is accepted by them, pop baritone/tenor.

Auditions will be held by appt. only July 28 & 29, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Prepare two boy band pop or rock songs of contrasting tempo, mood, and/or tessitura; at least one song must not be from the show. Bring sheet music in correct key with starts and stops clearly marked; an accompanist will be provided but will not transpose. Wear clothing that shows your build. Bring two copies of pix & resumes, stapled together. Salary level pending. Equity LOA Contract.
