| Moira Demos (writer/dir) and Jodi Collins (Casting dir) are casting “Hide and Seek”, a Columbia University Graduate Thesis Film. Aprox. 17 minutes shooting on HDV in the Greater NYC area Mid-August. Nine-year-old Erica is used to being on her own, but when her mother’s new therapy patient turns out to be a seven-year-old boy Erica begins to crave her mother’s time and attention. In a last ditch attempt to try to connect to her mom, Erica runs away and hangs around to witness the results. As she spies on her mother’s private moments both before and after learning of her daughter’s disappearance, Erica glimpses the woman she’s been missing, and finally feels like there might be a place for her in her mother’s life.
Seeking - Erica: 9 years old, independent and used to being on her own, but deep down craves the attention of her parents, revealing an emotionally intense personality. Physically agile. Bike riding and soccer skills a plus. Brenda: Mid to late 40s, a therapist who after emotionally draining days with her patients has little left for her husband and daughter. Must be able to drive. Jack: Mid to late 40s, an advertising creative in the city, playful and eager to please. The older his daughter gets the more nervous he becomes that he won’t know what to do as a father. For the most part he leaves the complicated emotional stuff to his wife the therapist. Little Boy: 7 years old, shy and quiet in public, but playful one on one. Young Mother: Late 20s/early 30s, a fragile overwhelmed single mom determined not to mess up her son. Female Soccer Coach: Mid to late 20s, athletic (even a little butch). Soccer skills a plus. Extras: Suburban soccer moms all races and ethnicities, 9-10 year old girls all races and ethnicities.
