Behold the Bowery

2008 NY International Fringe Festival proudly presents BEHOLD THE BOWERY! a drama/musical set in early 20th Century Manhattan when, according to one account, a man could stand on Houston Street with a shotgun, fire in any direction and not risk killing an honest man.
Seeking:
KELLEY McCLOON – 50s- a short, pudgy, balding master of ceremonies. Full of life and vitality, a true performer. Thrives on stage. Has a soft spot for Julian that most often shows itself in anger. He is the ringmaster of the show, he sets the pace and livens the tone. Presentational stage manner, realistic off-stage.
OFFICER PRESTON DEVLIN- 40s- A corrupt police officer on Dead Horse’s payroll. He is vulgar and stupid. His instincts to please always fail. As do most of his instincts. He is a womanizer and a xenophobe and sees himself as Dead Horse’s boss, not the other way around. (Ability to carry a tune)
DEAD HORSE OWNEY DRISCOLL – late 40s – The meanest most rational sonuvabitch in . He is a ruthless business man, not a gangster. He only resorts to violence when another man’s actions have justified it’s use, but when he’s violent it usually means killing the guy. He has no tolerance for stupidity and believes he lived in in a purer time. He longs for the days when a man stuck to his word.
